Theme of the Year - Embracing Enchanting English

Every year the school incorporates a theme. In the first year of its establishment it was ‘Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan’. The major attraction was the Nukkad Natak performed by our children the lohegaon premisis. ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ was the theme of the second year.

The students were instructed to bring stainless steel lunch boxes and water bottles to school and discard the use of plastics. All these measures aim at creating individuals with high moral and civic values along with high integrity and responsibility towards the mother Earth. Continuing the spirit to bring a substantial change in the young minds.

The current academic year incorporated the theme as ‘Embracing Enchanting English’. Language is the way of creative expression. It is a doorway to wisdom. English is a very enchanting language and has wide range of literature. BIS also celebrates English Day. During the celebration many activities related to English language skills are carried out like Spelling Bee Competition and other vocabulary building and creative writing sessions. To imbibe the love for this language, the curiosity to learn more and the passion to master it, this theme is carried out.

1. English day celebration -

This day is celebrated in the memory of the great author, poet and philosopher, Shakespeare. We as an English medium school employ creative ideas to empower language skills in the students. With similar enthusiasm we had celebrated Hindi Diwas and Marathi Diwas as well. 1.1 Competitions were also conducted for Poem recitation and Elocution as a part of language development activities in the school.

2. Written and Online Olympiad exams to promote the awareness and provide experience of facing competitive exams in the students.

3. Celebration of National Festivals 15th August and 26th January to imbibe the patriotic spirit in the students.

4. Fancy Dress Competition with the aim to appreciate creative potentials in the students...

5. Colour Days -

The school celebrates almost all days and festivals. World Environment Day and World Nature Conservation Day celebration invites everyone to consider how we can make changes in our everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our natural places, our wildlife- and our own health. Colour day celebration helps the children understand how colours impact our lives and influence our mind.

6. Diwali Mela -

Creativity can be enhanced through determined efforts and opportunities. BIS gave this opportunity to its students through Diwali Mela during the academic year 2018-19, wherein, the students showed their creativity through a painting exhibition and Art and Craft Mela. The students made different artifacts and sold them. Through this BIS encouraged future entrepreneurs.

7. Cultural Festivals like Janmastami, Navratri, Christmas and Diwali are celebrated to encourage love and respect in the students for other religions and customs.

8. Sports -

We uplift and exhibit physical strength of our students through trainings like Karate. Through sport activities our students promote healthy sportsman spirit, and competitive spirit and through our distinctive House systems, like Satya, Ahinsa, encouraging the morale of our students. This year our school has been registered in District Sports Office wherein our students participated in the karate and chess inter- school competitions at the district level.

9. Assembly is one of the disciplines we follow every day. We ask students to perform in the assembly class wise each week. This helps them to overcome the stage fright and to mold them to become a better speaker and develop their public speaking skills. It also boosts their self-confidence. The major highlight of our assembly is the Sarva Dharva Prarthna where we sing the prayers of all religions.

10. The World Nature Conservation Day-

Apart from academics BIS also believes in creating social awareness through different activities. On the World nature Conservation Day students brought saplings and planted them in the school premises. This initiative was undertaken to imbibe the importance of planting trees. A quiz contest was also conducted on the topics related to environment and environmental issues, e.g. Global Warming, Acid Rain etc. This initiative was undertaken to ignite the need to protect our mother nature and be not only a responsible citizen but a highly responsible and committed human being on the Earth.

11. Through the World Yoga Day -

We educated our students on how physical fitness leads to mental fitness and importance of meditation practices.

12. Grandparent’s Day -

To imbibe the importance of having grandparents at home we have started celebrating grandparent’s day. We were so happy to see the grand parents of most of our pre-primary students participated in large numbers in this celebration. It was a great way to give them a platform to express their feelings and the best way to show gratitude for them. We were highly appreciated for our this effort.

13. Annual Day 2018-19 -

India is a country of diversities and we need to embrace our diversities with utmost pride. Keeping this in mind the theme was kept as ‘Celebrating our Linguistic Diversities’.
